About the Position:

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Data Analyst in our Store Support Center (099). In this role you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support strategic decision-making processes within the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify trends, extract valuable insights, and generate actionable recommendations.

Objectives of this Role

  • Play a pivotal role in transforming The Fresh Market into a data-driven culture by advocating to and educating users about the importance of adopting data-driven insights, data visualizations, and storytelling.
  • Commit to leveraging data-driven insights to make informed business decisions, drive growth, and enhance customer experiences.
  • Own enterprise level metric definitions for business KPIs as well as source-to-target mappings and information-model specification documents for datasets and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with business units (Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, HR, etc.) on business reporting, analysis requirements, and provide support to those end-users.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets.
  • Help identify the business data needed to produce the most useful insights and future analytics.
What You'll Do:
  • Data Collection, Modeling, and Analysis:
    • Collect, process, and perform statistical analysis of data identifying trends, issues, and opportunities.
    • Translate business questions into analytical projects, hypothesis testing, and data-driven solutions.
    • Evaluate internal processes for inefficiencies and inaccuracies and assist with process automation and improvement for better data management and consistencies.
  • Business Insights:
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their objectives and data requirements.
    • Generate actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic initiatives at all levels.
    • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new development technologies.
  • Reporting and Dashboards:
    • Create best-practice reports based on data mining, analysis, and visualizations.
    • Translate the data into easily digestible visualizations/dashboards/reports, that explain what the data means across specific amounts of time or various departments to track key business metrics.
    • Automate business reporting processes to streamline data delivery and accessibility.
  • Data Governance:
    • Help establish and maintain data quality standards/best practices ensuring accurate analysis/reporting.
    • Assist in data cleansing, data profiling, and data transformation activities.
    • Evaluate internal processes for inefficiencies and inaccuracies and assist with process automation and improvement for better data management and consistencies.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with departments such as Marketing, Merchandising, Accounting, and Operations to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
    • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure effective communication.
  • Provide support to end-users that may include, but is not limited to:
    • Monitor standards in reporting to include consistency in the proper use of metrics and attributes.
    • Validation of report data to source data to ensure data accuracy.
    • Validating appropriate and efficient SQL to retrieve data is being used.
    • Ensuring correct definitions of metrics are being used.
    • Provide training to end users – including new hires and existing team members.
Qualifications:

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Analyst or related role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Snowflake, SQL, Python, or R; SQL skills are required.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools like MicroStrategy, PowerBI, or other BI platforms (MicroStrategy strongly preferred).
  • Strong analytical, inter-personal & communication skills with proactive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate across all company levels effectively and efficiently in business and technical terminology.
  • Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.
  • Possess a strong business acumen as well as understand technical concepts to formulate optimal solutions.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong ability to use intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations.
  • Attention to detail and reliable time management skills is a must.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • MicroStrategy report development, administration and/or architecture experience strongly preferred; similar skills with other BI platform considered.
  • Experience in Retail Industry.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Certification in MicroStrategy (Departmental Analyst, Enterprise Analyst, Project Architect, Developer, Administrator, System Administrator, or Database Administrator).
  • Certification in data analysis or related field a plus.
