About the Position:

Accountant III, Fixed Assets will handle multiple aspects of accounting for capital expenditures and assist with other areas of corporate accounting, as needed.

 The ideal candidate is highly organized, with a solid technical accounting knowledge base and excellent communication skills, able to successfully manage multiple projects within set timelines and hit month close deadlines.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage the full asset life cycle (acquisitions, depreciation, disposals, transfers, etc.), which may mean directing and monitoring the work of other staff level positions
  • Ensure that fixed assets are capitalized in accordance with the Company policy
  • Assist with creating capital budgets
  • Develop and deliver monthly capex reporting packages containing business insights
  • Prepare short- and long-term depreciation projections for financial and tax purposes
  • Be key liaison for the fixed asset area during external audits
  • Assist with preparation of the capital authorization requests and ensure understanding of the capitalization policy by the internal stakeholders
  • Prepare variance analysis for plan vs actual results
  • Compile data for annual Tangible Personal Property (TPP) tax filings and assist during the audits
  • Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, as needed
  • Provide data and maintain supporting fixed asset schedules for financial reporting, federal/state tax filings and internal/external audits
  • Collaborate effectively and represent Accounting in cross functional projects
  • Work well in deadline-intensive environment
  • Flexibility to expand responsibilities and take on other special projects, as needed
  • Assist in the design and setup of new processes and controls to meet evolving business needs
  • Learn new technological and software tools to improve process efficiencies
Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance)
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably including fixed assets
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Prior experience with fixed asset accounting, ERP systems and report-writing tools is a plus
  • Experience applying GAAP and IFRS accounting principles
  • Solid understanding of internal controls
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuously evolve to meet the changing business needs
  • Quick learner and problem solver when faced with new issues or challenges

Preferred qualifications:

  • CPA, or on track to become a CPA
