The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Corporate Affairs Manager in our Store Support Center, located in Greensboro, NC that will directly report to our parent company Cencosud. This role will lead the implementation of Cencosud’s external communications and public affairs strategy in the United States, with a focus on strengthening the Company’s and its brands’ particularly The Fresh Market’s reputational and institutional positioning among media, policy makers, opinion leaders, and key stakeholders.
The role contributes to projecting a consistent, relevant narrative aligned with the corporate purpose of serving in an extraordinary way at every moment, fostering a proactive relationship with the external environment, anticipating reputational risks, and promoting trust-based relationships with the communities where the Company operates.
Additionally, the position supports the public affairs agenda, including legislative monitoring, government relations, and the development of community engagement initiatives.
What You'll Do:- Execute the external communications and public affairs strategy and plan in the United States, ensuring alignment with Cencosud’s regional guidelines.
- Lead media relations and engagement with strategic stakeholders, strengthening the Company’s visibility and reputation.
- Define and execute a regional community engagement strategy, establishing strong relationships with local leaders and non-government agencies to mitigate operational impacts, protect brand reputation, and champion social impact initiatives.
- Develop high-quality content, including press releases, opinion pieces, speeches, Q&A documents, spokesperson briefs, and institutional materials.
- Manage and coordinate external agencies, ensuring quality, consistency, and achievement of reputational objectives.
- Monitor and analyze media presence and the public environment, producing reports on coverage, tone, reach, and reputational impact.
- Contribute to crisis and contingency management, in coordination with local and regional teams, safeguarding the corporate reputation.
- Coordinate with internal areas (marketing, legal, sustainability, public affairs, among others) to ensure message consistency and alignment.
- Support the planning and execution of engagement initiatives with authorities, industry associations, opinion leaders, and local communities.
- Monitor the regulatory and legislative environment, identifying risks and opportunities for the Company.
At a minimum, you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related filed of study, or any equivalent combination of relevant experience, training, and skills.
- 8 years of experience in external communications, media relations, or corporate affairs, preferably in multinational companies within the United States.
- Proven experience in media management, journalistic and corporate writing, and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of digital content management, social media, and online conversations monitoring.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bilingual advanced English and Spanish, with the ability to operate in a professional written and verbal contexts.
- Experience with AI tools applied to communications and reputation analysis.
- Experience in retail or consumer goods industries is a plus.
