About the Position:

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Director of Strategic Sourcing & Promotion in our Store Support Center, located in Greensboro, NC. This role provides enterprise-level leadership sourcing strategy and is responsible for ensuring procurement initiatives meet the Companies overall business mission and objectives.

The Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement provides the leadership/management required to execute TFM Procurement processes in assigned categories, business units and procurement systems and platforms that meet the Company’s dynamic business strategies and needs. These processes include governance of Company spend, 7-Step Sourcing process, contracts, AQSCIR model, Total Cost of Ownership tracking system, Preferred Vendor List program, Procurement systems platforms and general Procurement processes.

What You'll Do:
  • Cultivate strategic supplier relationships, driving seamless integration and cutting-edge innovation.
  • Drive partnership with Category Team/Business Unit. (Real Estate, Marketing, IT, Merchandising, Finance, Ops, etc).
  • Ensure global procurement resource aligns around the Company’s business direction and strategies.
  • Ensure information needed to meet supply base requirements are communicated to the leaders of the Category Teams or Business Units.
  • Work on timeline/calendar processes and communication around these partners.
  • Provide oversight on specific projects as they occur within a season.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Collaborate internally across functional areas to understand and incorporate business constraints where appropriate.
  • Practical adoption and use of the Category Management cross-functional process to deliver Procurement strategies for each Category or for the Business Unit or systems platforms.
  • On an ongoing basis, evaluate risk, threats and opportunities in the global marketplace; recommend and facilitate changes as needs and opportunities arise.
  • Challenge existing ways of working in pursuit of opportunities for cost reduction, value improvement and application of lean processes.
  • Adoption, adaptation and use of relevant e-procurement tools & systems.
  • Utilize technology to optimize procurement activities, enable data driven decision making and ensure consistency globally.
  • Delivery of goods and services against the Procurement business model of AQSCIR in a measurable fashion.
  • Develop and lead implementation of appropriate KPI’s for assigned categories through real time dashboards.
  • Focus on supplier engagement, innovation and sustainability to drive savings and additional value through regular communication and senior level quarterly business reviews (QBR).
  • Analysis, management and projection of purchase price variance to standard cost/budgets for assigned categories.
  • Direct the activities of the direct/indirect reports to assure that the Procurement business needs are met.
  • Ensure suppliers meet all of the Company’s CSR requirements.
  • Optimize processes through partnership across the enterprise and, where appropriate, with our parent company (Cencosud) to align platforms, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree a plus.
  • 7–10+ years of experience sourcing and procurement teams.  
  • Demonstrated success leading sourcing and procurement strategy at scale.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Experience building or enhancing processes, tools, or capabilities.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills across cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred
  • ISM certification is desirable
  • Working knowledge of assigned spend area and related supply markets is desirable
  • Familiarity and experience with use of formal Category Management approach to Procurement is desirable
  • Familiarity and experience with use of e-procurement tools and systems is desirable
