About the Position:

New Store Opening Merchandiser is responsible for managing the opening process for all new and remodeled locations to ensure openings are on time and on budget.  The primary responsibility includes teaching and training new and existing store management, department management and team members in the processes required to operate their departments effectively and profitably through opening and on an ongoing basis. This role requires an experienced professional who has expertise in product knowledge, food handling, quality control and prepared food production.  This role is responsible for modeling and delivering a first-class guest experience by maintaining a high level of guest engagement/satisfaction at all times. This role is fast paced and requires a passion for operational excellence as you will be working with Merchant business partners, Zone Vice Presidents, Regional Manager of Operations, Store Management, Department managers, Team Members, contractors, vendors, and products continuously throughout the day.

What You'll Do:
  • Travel extensively to new store and renovation locations.
  • Exaction of Standard practices for our new and existing managers and team members which includes:
    • Order writing
    • Rotation
    • Replenishment
    • In Store Production
    • Workplace Safety
    • Food Safety
    • Daily, weekly, and monthly routines
  • Responsible for the implementation of merchandising plans and store specific mapping communicated from TFM Corporate office.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in your specific area of responsibility to drive sales through effective merchandising strategy including applicable standards, product positioning, product packaging, visual communications and graphics, fixtures, macro/micro space allocation.
  • Conducting Training / Developing Training Processes as required for:
    • Store Managers
    • Assistant Store Managers
    • Manager on Duty (MOD’s)
    • Department Managers
    • New Team Members
  • Provide coaching for all managers and team members to optimize operations, further team development, and increase retention.
  • Assist with creative problem solving
  • Establishes and maintains quality results by following and enforcing company standards.
  • Ensure that the store layout and planograms are executed and maintained.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from remodels, new stores, and various assigned projects given by the Director of New Stores and Renovations.
Qualifications:

At a minimum, you will need:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 5 years of management experience in either the retail, restaurant, or hospitality field.
  • A history of coaching and training teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience providing direction and supervision to teams (with direct report responsibility).
  • Ability to read, understand and follow planograms, layouts, and schematics of the department for merchandising.
  • Ability to work independently and in strong collaboration with multiple levels of management or peers.
    • Able to interpret a variety of instructions, furnished in writing, oral or diagram form.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Ability to travel extensively.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the following one or more of the following areas: Bakery, Meat & Seafood, Produce & Floral.
  • Ability to motivate and lead teams.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Fresh Department (Produce/Floral, Bakery or Meat/Seafood.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead and influence change.
  • Sense of urgency /persistence; ability to work in a fast paced, everchanging environment.
  • Production Planning Software experience (ex. Periscope, CGO, Kronos/Dimensions scheduling).

Physical and Work Conditions:

  • Repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching, ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds by oneself, exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to use tools equipment: knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Required to spend long periods of time on feet and stand or walk without a break (for up to 4 hours or as required by law).
  • Required to wear approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.
