About the Position:

The Fresh Market has an opening for a Program Improvement Manager in the Store Support Center (099) in Greensboro, NC.  The Program Improvement Manager collaborates with the business on new program and process initiatives designed to help the company become more efficient.  This position collaborates with merchandising, operations, human resources, training, information technology, food safety, and others to develop optimized and efficient activities within store leveraging the 5S and Engineered Labor Standards framework. This position supports the labor team in spearheading workflow methods and initiatives that enhance performance.

This role will report to the Director of Guest Experience and Labor Management.

What You'll Do:

Program & Project Management

  • Lead and manage initiatives aligned with long-term business goals; oversee program execution to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop detailed project plans; manage projects through to completion.
  • Establish and manage budgets, including equipment and material needs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project activities; ensure all deliverables remain on time and on budget.

Store Impact Planning & Execution

  • Manage the Store Impact Planning (SIP) program, partnering across functions to ensure initiatives are fit to land in-store and executable by store teams—the first time, every time.
  • Partner with Labor team to manage weekly discretionary labor spend through SIP.
  • Ensure Guest Care is briefed on all in-store initiatives to uphold service excellence; leverage feedback and data to improve future rollouts.
  • Develop tools and reporting to track in-store activities; conduct root cause analysis when programs fail to land effectively.
  • Create and maintain standards for how programs should be structured and designed to succeed in-store.

Process Improvement & Technology

  •  Identify and implement mobile and technology-based solutions that streamline store operations.
  • Support cross-system integration efforts to reduce friction from the guest experience and help team members work smarter.
  • Co-own the 5S framework with the Operations Excellence team.
  • Evaluate business processes and conduct ongoing analyses to identify improvement opportunities.

Labor Systems & Other System Support

  • Serve as an analyst and QA tester for labor management system updates and upgrades, including evaluations of new tools and upgrades.
  • Provide interim and project specific related support for non-labor systems connected to initiatives being deployed.
  • Support training for field and store teams in programs and systems connected to initiatives being deployed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in retail operations, industrial engineering, accounting, or financial operations; 4+ years recent, continuous industrial engineering experience in retail grocery
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Authorized to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same
  • High standard of integrity and reliability

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • Agile project methodology experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and project management skills
  • Skilled in facilitating and training teams
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
