About the Position:

As the Assistant Manager Liquor, you will support the Manager, Liquor in overseeing daily operations, managing inventory, ensuring compliance, and providing exceptional guest service. You will help lead a team dedicated to delivering a superior shopping experience while driving department sales and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for excellence.

What You'll Do:
  • Assist in planning and execution of sampling events.
  • Support the Manager, Liquor in ordering and managing inventory levels, maintaining product displays, and ensuring accurate pricing and labeling. This includes requesting special order items as needed.
  • Greet guests and assist them with product selections, offering knowledgeable recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Help maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding the sale of alcohol, including proper age verification and safety protocols.
  • Train, coach, and motivate team members to deliver exceptional service and uphold The Fresh Market’s standards.
  • Ensure accurate monthly inventory counts to maintain optimal stock levels and support sales.
  • Operate the register during busy periods, assist with stocking shelves, and perform other tasks necessary to maintain smooth department operations.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Liquor to implement local marketing strategies and in-store promotions to increase department sales.

Availability:

To meet the needs of our stores, guests and teams, this position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings and holiday work.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

  • 2+ years of management experience in retail, food and beverage, or a similar industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Certifications:

  • Must obtain and maintain any relevant certifications related to the sale of alcohol within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in alcohol sales or retail management.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding the sale of alcohol.
  • Previous experience in assisting with store or department openings.

Physical and Work Conditions

  • Repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching, ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds by oneself, exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Ability to use tools equipment: knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment
  • Required to spend long periods of time on feet and stand or walk without a break (for up to 4 hours or as required by law)
  • Required to wear approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment
